Hello Marronaia Friends! Today with Paola’s Florence Tours – Paola Migliorini we visited the Palazzo dei Priori!
Palazzo dei Priori was built by maestro Riccardo in 1239, as the inscription near the entrance portal says, it has the shape of a parallelepiped. A pentagonal tower surmounts the palace.
Inside, decorated with the coats of arms of Florentine captains, there is a Crucifixion and Saints, a fresco by Pier Francesco Fiorentino, who also painted the other Crucifixion in the mayor’s antechamber, while the Virgin and Child is attributed to Raffaellino del Garbo. In the Sala del Maggior Consiglio, decorated with writings and coats of arms in the 19th century, the fresco on canvas of the Annunciation between Santi Cosma and Damiano and San Giusto and Ottaviano by Jacopo di Cione and NicolĂ² di Pietro Gerini stands out.
