Hello Marronaia Friends! Today with Paola’s Florence Tours – Paola Migliorini we started to visit the Hidden Gems of VOLTERRA.
Volterra is a walled mountaintop town in the Tuscany region of Italy. Its history dates from before the 8th century BC and it has substantial structures from the Etruscan, Roman, and Medieval periods.
In particular, this time we visited an Alabaster factory, one of the oldest in town Rossi Alabastri. This firm, founded in 1912, offers a wide selection of alabaster products, artifacts, and traditional sculpture works exhibited in three extensive galleries. An opportunity to discover the magic of Alabaster in the ancient Rossi workshop.
The Alabaster, a wonderful material, which is quarried in the surroundings of Volterra and wrought very skillfully in the countless artisan shops, has made the town famous since the times of the Etruscans.
